Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install LegisPro Collaborate?
No.  LegisPro Collaborate is available as SaaS. Xcential will help you set-up your account and get started.

If you wish to install LegisPro Collaboration as a MS Windows application (typically for security reasons), we can help you with that too.
What are the ways we can collaborate?
1. Share marked up drafts. You can print your draft (with tracked changes or suggestions) to PDF or Akoma Ntoso and simply share your input for discussion.

2. Work on the Same Documents. With permission, users can directly add edits to documents owned by others. These suggested edits can then be accepted or rejected by the owner of the document.

3. Work on Sections of the Same Document. Users who are drafting together on large documents can easily lock sections for editing. This ensures that several people can edit sections without the concern of thier work being overwritten. This features also enables concurrent drafting so that the whole document does not have to be closed by one person to allow another to contribute.

4. Suggestions, comments, and annotations.  Even if you are not a primary drafter, you can provide input to drafts for consideration.
How many individuals can collaborate on a document at once?
A lot. With section or segment locking, each segment is treated as a unique file.  This virtually eliminates computer resources required to manage very large documents. So the limitation of collaborators is defined by the number of segments or sections within a document.
What if I'm a lobbyist or special interest group?
LegisPro Collaborate gives your an opportunity to draft bills, amendments, and other instruments in the same fashion as legislative counsels.  Your drafts will look like theirs in format and is structure. LegisPro Collaborate makes it easy to pull in legislation or regulation you'd like to suggest changes to and gives you the power to draft with precision.
Is my bill more likely to be passed, if I use LegisPro Collaborate?
No.  Passing legislation and regulation is meant to be a collaborative and deliberative process. LegisPro Collaborate will not get you additional votes on your ideas.

However!  You will have the opportunithy to draft in the same XML standard as your jurisdiction and similar structures. This is important because the clerk or legislative counsel who reviews bills must translate poor drafts into a standard format.  So LegisPro Collaborate may speed the process to reach consideration by reducing time required for formatting.
